Wendy is a chartered psychologist, with expertise in the field of dyslexia assessment (post 16). She completed her degree in Psychology at the University of Leeds in 1996. Following this she completed her PhD at The University of Sheffield in 2004 (Department of Psychology), where she carried out her research into adult dyslexia. Wendy has worked in FE and HE for the last 12 years, providing support and guidance to dyslexic students; liaising with departments and local education authorities, and delivering awareness training across university departments. Wendy has also developed guidelines for tutors working with dyslexic students in the university setting.

She worked for several years as an assessor of needs at The Sheffield Regional ACCESS centre, whilst completing her PhD. Wendy also has a keen interest in Deaf Studies and has completed her Sign Language Training (C.A.C.D.P. Level’s I & II).

Wendy works on a consultancy basis and provides assessments to a range of institutions in the southwest area. She has much experience in both FE and HE, and has a thorough understanding of funding and support mechanisms, across both settings.

The assessment method usually takes between 2-1/2 - 3 hours, depending on the individual concerned. Wendy takes a holistic approach to the assessment session and believes that one of the most important factors of the assessment, and report, is that the individual gains an understanding of their particular learning style and is then able to identify their specific strengths and weaknesses.

The current fee for assessment is £285.00, which includes a half hour follow up session upon completion of the report.
