Kathy has an Honours Degree in Languages, a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Lancaster, a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Bristol and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Exeter.

Kathy is a qualified teacher, with 14 years experience in mainstream education, specialising in supporting with children with special educational needs and behavioural difficulties in schools in local authority schools and more latterly as Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at a comprehensive school in Somerset. Kathy was also principal teacher in a specialist Child and Family Support Centre in Bristol, working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties at risk of permanent exclusion or care. In 1996 Kathy trained as an Educational Psychologist at Exeter University following which she worked for the Somerset Psychological Service, where she was seconded to the Youth Offending Team, also working as a generic Educational Psychologist in a range of county mainstream and special schools.

Since 2004 Kathy has worked as an independent chartered educational psychologist, working with children, students and adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Speech and Language Difficulties, Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism and providing guidance to schools, universities and employers. Kathy carries out assessments in the West Country, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, also providing freelance assessments at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre in Surrey. Kathy is experienced in providing in-service training covering a wide range of issues to teachers, youth workers and other professionals.
